About TaxSQR

Why we built TaxSQR.

TaxSQR began in 2019 as the in-house operating system for a small US tax-services practice that filed too many expatriate tax returns to run on spreadsheets, email threads, and a stitched-together collection of point tools. The practice still exists; thousands of tax returns flow through it every season, prepared by our IRS-licensed enrolled agents and Chartered Accountants and signed under their initials.

The company is young; the practitioners are not. Though TaxSQR was formed in 2019, its founders have prepared US tax returns since 2003 — including years at a Big Four firm.

§ Section I · Origin

A firm built the platform.
Then licensed it.

Practice before product.

The product is what we built for ourselves. We license it to other firms because we know what it costs to keep a practice straight in the middle of April — and we know what it would have saved us, in those first seasons, to have had this. Platform, services, or both. One ledger, one brand.

§ Section II · Principles

What we believe.

Reviewed monthly.

№ 01

One ledger.

Every prospect, every taxpayer, every reviewer flows through the same data model. No exports, no duplicate sources of truth, no "but our other tool says…"

№ 02

Audit-grade by default.

Every consequential action is logged before it is allowed. We would rather make you defend a decision than make you reconstruct it.

№ 03

No per-return fees.

You buy seats. You file as many tax returns as your seats can prepare. Per-return pricing exists to harvest growing firms; we will not do that.

№ 04

A platform we use ourselves.

Our services arm prepares thousands of expat tax returns every season — entirely on TaxSQR. If a workflow is annoying for our preparers, we fix it.

§ Section III · Restraint

What we have decided not to do.

Published in public so we can be held to it. If you ever see us doing one of these, send us a screenshot and we will either roll it back or explain ourselves in writing.

№ 04
Ship work to AI alone.
AI prefills, drafts, and accelerates. An enrolled agent signs. Always.

We file tax returns. We also build the platform that records the filing. Both, on one ledger.
